We took some time out from our busy schedules to visit the
National Capital Cat Show at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia. Nearly 400 cats competed in this weekend long event. This year's featured breeds were the Cornish Rex and the Himalayan. We snapped a bunch of photos for you to enjoy of the different cats.
The floor was packed with all sorts of cats. Big cats, little cats, furry cats, and naked cats all were competing for ribbons in their different classes. Some were shy but many of the cats seemed to smile for us as we took there photograph.
Just about every breed could be found on the show floor. It was really torturous not to be able to pet every cat but these are working cats. Touching is discouraged and only at the permission of the owners. Cat shows are probably not a good place for little children.
After a little last minute grooming it is off to the judging ring.
Judging is fast and efficient. This is probably the best place to get a good look at the cats outside their cages. You will need to pick which breed you are interested in because there are eight rings with simultaneous judging.
There is even an agility ring competition where owners take their cats through an obstacle course. This area is really fun to watch.
And then there are those crazy cat owners that dress their cats up for the cat fashion show.
If you like cats, then the National Capital Cat Show is a fun event to attend. Get out of your cage and enjoy yourself.
