Let’s Rock & Roll for a Cure – Sock Hop in Winchester, VA

It wasn’t Halloween but we decided to dress up 50’s style for the 5th Annual “Let’s Rock & Roll for a Cure” to benefit the American Cancer Society. Best Western Lee Jackson Conference Center in Winchester, VA was packed. If you were not in the parking lot by the time the doors opened at 7pm you would have trouble finding a spot as the show was sold out for months.

Good friends of Bubba’s Garage, John and Theresa Shirley, purchased a table at the Sock Hop and invited us to join them. Many of their guests dressed up in Mouse Ears to form their very own Mickey Mouse Club. They won first place in the idol contest. Way to go, Mouseketeers!

The Rock & Roll Relics provided the music for the evening. Their music wasn’t bad and they kept the dance floor full for the entire night. Several special contests, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and performances by the DC Chapter of Gottaswing (chicken routine was a hoot!) rounded out the evening’s entertainment. Let’s Rock & Roll for a Cure Sock Hop is a good event for a great cause.
