First Holiday Show of the Season

Saturday was the first Holiday show of the season for BG Customs. We did well but the show, Joyful Noise at Dominion High School in Sterling, VA, wasn’t well attended. It was great to see a number of friends that live in the area and came out to see what we were selling. We will probably be back at this show again next year.

What was I thinking...

Hunting for a bargain at Beadfest
You know something isn't right when they close off the mens' restroom and put up a sign that says "Women Only." The guys were outnumbered 50 to 1 at the latest Beadfest in King of Prussia this weekend. Peg and I were hunting some unusual pieces to use in our jewelry business. There was a great selection of normal supplies and we did purchase some neat silver and lampwork items. Peg even bought some tools and splurged on a vortex marble. If you are in to jewelry making, Beadfest is a must attend event.

Berryville Craft Market

Vendors at the Berryville Craft Market
Every second Saturday of the month you will find BG Customs selling jewelry at the Berryville Craft Market. Peg and I started our company out of the garage. BG stands for Bubba's Garage. I create chainmaille jewelry and handle the books while Peg does everything else. It is something we can both do together and since I am still working with metal I don't have a problem with it. I let Peg play with the beads. Come visit us in Berryville  from 8am until noon each second Saturday of the month across from the Farmers' Market. Or, check out our website, www.bgcustoms.biz,  for other locations that we will be selling.

Almost like Christmas

We finally had a real good selling weekend. Since it was Mother's Day weekend Peg decided we needed to sell both days. On Saturday we did the Berryville Main Street Craft Market in Berryville, VA and had great day even though it was a little warm and threatening to shower on us. On Sunday we hit our usual spot at the Jefferson Biz Market and did even better. The total in sales for both days was rapidly approaching Christmas levels. But now we are totally pooped and need to replace inventory. Guess I'll be twisting metal most of the week.

Times are tough

We went to the International Gem & Jewelry Show this weekend in Chantily, VA and had no problem shopping. Normally you are shoulder to shoulder at this show but the crowds were quite manageable. We were in and out in a couple of hours with about 3/4 of the items we had on our purchase list. And we behaved! We only bought off our list for a change.

Keep Learning

So this week I learned a new chainmaille pattern called "Celtic Visions Star." It's not too hard and by using anodized aluminum we can create all sorts of colors as well as keep the prices down. These pendants, as well as all the other jewelry we make, can be purchased at our booth (BG Customs) most Sundays during the Jefferson Biz Market just off Route 9 near Charles Town, WV in the Mountain Community Center (MCC).

Combining Hobbies for a Perfect Saturday

Peg and I spent an enjoyable evening at the Lions Club Cruise-In in Bunker Hill, WV. We set up our tent and Peg sold her jewelry as BG Customs while I checked out the cars on the lot. Some more photos of the cars can be found on our website http://www.bubbastoybox.com.
