Peg and I finally made it out to Cars and Coffee, held every Saturday morning between 7am – 9am, at Katie’s Coffee in Great Falls, Virginia. The cruise-in brings out many area car enthusiasts to BS about everything car related. While the European cars dominate the parking lots, there is a good gathering of domestics as well. Many expensive models show up here including $200K+ Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercedes-Benz SLS models! What a great way to start the weekend.

1963 Cadillac Hearse T-Shirt

New Hearse T-Shirts are available for purchase in our Zazzle store. “Bubba’s Horizontal Limo Service – Haulin’ Ash Since 1963” is a graphic I made starring the one and only Hearsela, our 1963 Cadillac Hearse.

Danville-Flower

We took a little timeout to visit the Danville Science Center’s Butterfly Station in downtown Danville, VA on Saturday. This enclosed outdoor flower garden is setup to showcase flowering plants that attract butterflies. Several different varieties of butterflies were flittering around during our visit. I was using a Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 Di II Macro on my Nikon D300 to capture these photos. 60mm is way too small to be chasing bugs with; I need a longer macro lens.

Bee-in-Flight

Have you ever tried to photograph a bee in flight? It’s not easy. This was the best photo I was able to get of this bee who seemed to be guarding the path to the Butterfly Station.

One of Peg’s favorite landmarks along I-81 is the Endless Caverns sign on the side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She calls it “the Hollywood sign of the East Coast.” I snapped this photo while at a rest stop.
