It has been 25 years since the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club set up shop in the Historic 1902 Southern Railway Railroad Depot in Hendersonville, NC. We took the opportunity to visit with them during their recent open house. They run a very nice HO layout inside as well as a large scale garden layout outside at the train station.

Our Journey with Dorothy to the Land of Oz
We're off to see the Wizard! A road trip to Beech Mountain, NC. The Beech Mountain Resort is home to the former Land of OZ amusement park. Our visit was 47 years and 1 day since the park originally opened on June 15, 1970. The amusement park closed at the end of 1980. By 1985, the Emerald City was demolished. Sadly there isn't much left to see but with some imagination you can make the Land of Oz live again!
22nd Annual Ole Smoky Spring Farm Fest
I took a quick lap around Ole Smoky Antique Tractor & Engine Association's show field during the 22nd Annual Ole Smoky Spring Farm Fest at the Haywood County fairgrounds in Clyde, NC. There were a good mix of antique tractors and a few old trucks. It was a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.
