We woke up early to try and catch the sunrise at Jekyll Island, Georgia. It was brutally windy and cold. Our first stop was to Driftwood Beach. What a fantastic place to explore! Old trees littered the beach making for some interesting shapes to photograph.
We spent several hours exploring the beach and needed to warm up. By this time, The Georgia Sea Turtle Center was open so we headed over to see what the center was about. While the facility is very nice it is also very small. There really isn't much to see. We spent maybe 30 minutes here.
We made our way to the south side of the island for some breakfast and a walk on the beach. We were in search of shark's teeth but we were unable to find any. It was still quite an enjoyable walk.
We decided to finish up our tour of Jekyll Island with some shopping around the area of the Jekyll Island Club Resort. There are some nice little shops to explore and the area is simply gorgeous for some leisurely walking.
Jekyll Island, Georgia is definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. It is much nicer than the nearby St. Simons.
